  1. I have still problems with audio sync when I convert a DIVX file using virtualdub 1.4 and tmpgenc: The audio is not in sync with video. I tried to save the audio as .wav withot processing and to convert it to mp2 with headac3he-0.23a, but "no chunk data" appeared, so this didn't work.

Any other ideas how to convert a DIVX into SVCD withot audio sync problems?

I had same problem and with help from posts and some tinkering I came up with this:
Extract audio from file and save as uncompressed .wav file (I used CoolEdit Pro2). Join the video and new audio file together in VDub1.4 using direct stream copy for both audio and video and select video>frame rate to "Change so video and audio durations match". Load resulting file into TMPGEnc (with your usual settings) AND the saved uncompressed audio file.
Go to Settings>Advanced and ENABLE "Do not frame rate conversion" also have SSRC for sample rate conversion, and tooLAME for conversion from .wav to .mp2 (Via "External Tools" in TMPGEnc) installed and enabled and away you go.
The original advice I got did not mention adding the audio file when imputting into TMPGEnc and I too got a badly out of sync result but once I added the audio it worked fine.

  5. Another way of solving sync problems: I did the following steps: install avinfo, right click on avi with audio async, mark on avi info, tab utilities, extract wav file, then re-integrate wav file, use tmpgenc to encode, and my mpeg file was in sync!

    Her's a link to avinfo:

is your audio is in sync while watching it on the computer? if it is then just load the whole file in tmpg(without de-compressing the audio) and convert it. you can cut it afterwards if you wish. i have never had any sync problems with this method.

  7. It's in sync watching on a PC and the burned disc (VCD) is in sync too.
