  1. I have the pioneer A04 drive and have been using DVDpro and optodisk DVDRW media. So far most of the disks have worked on both my settop DVD players as well as my XBOX.
On one occation or another, a disk I produce does not work on the XBOX but will work on the other DVD players.
Is DVDR media more compatible than DVDRW?

    Thanks

  2. DVD-R is very much more compatible. X-Box from what I hear likes the DVD-RW media, but alot of DVD players will not.

I think the thing you have to keep in mind is that only 85% of DVD players can play DVD-R discs regardless of the quality of the disc. There is no 'formal' suport for DVD-R in DVD players, the manufacturers are including it as an added feature, but it is not part of the original DVD specification. Same for DVD-RW and DVD+R etc... It's up to the player if they want to properly support it or not. However, DVD-R does seem to have better acceptance than DVD-RW.
