  1. I have been trying to convert an avi file to a vcd mpg with no luck. I've tried virtualdub, tmpgenc (several different versions), vcdgear, and avi2vcd and nothing works. I tried to repair it with divfix to see if it would work on a long shot but it didn't. avi2vcd says that the audio is compressed. does that mean that i'm screwed and should give up on this one or what? Help me out guys.

  2. You need to be a bit more specific about what you are trying to do.

If it's a DivX avi file then usually the audio is MP3. Check to make sure you have the MP3 codec installed on your PC.

  3. its not divx, its just an avi file. i've been doing this for a while now, so i'm not a newbie but for some reason i just can't figure this one out. i keep getting errors that the audio is compressed when i try to make a wav file of the audio so i can convert it in tmpgenc. i just need to know if anyone knows how to separate compressed audio from an avi file.

    Search Comp PM
Open your avi in Virtual Dub and save WAV.
In TMPG select that .wav as audio source and the .avi as video source. Encode to .mpg.
btw, DivX is also an .avi file.

  6. using virtualdub is the first thing i tried (if u read my first post u know that). i had the beta version of nero 5.5 and it does convert files, but sometimes the audio is off, and i started having a lot of problems with my burner after a little while until i uninstalled it and went back to an old version i still had. i'm gonna try using a new version since its a full release now to see what happens. i was trying to use nero as a last resort. thanx anyway guys. if someone has anymore suggestions, please let me know. i really wanna convert this video.
