  1. G'day .......

I was advised to use vdub-mp3-freeze.exe to help correct/edit my AVI files I have that will not convert with TMPE because of bad frames (I'm guessing

I have d/loaded vdub-mp3-freeze.exe but for the life of me can not figure out how to use it for what I need to do....

I understand some of you may think of me as "simple minded" not being able to work it out but I have tried even looked at the help book with it but just can't understand what to do....

What I'm wanting to know is CAN SOMEONE PEOPLE DESCRIBE TO ME IN "SIMPLE" TERMS HOW TO REMOVE BAD FRAMES USEING vdub-mp3-freeze.exe.... can you please explain it in the most simple and detailed way possible??

THANK YOU very much in advance
thanks for taking the time to read this your mate Q_A.....

Video > check video for freezes

This make a log of the bad frames at c:\badframes.log you can then use that log to delete the bad frames (At key frames) starting at the highest blocks first.

    12345
    12346
    12347
    345678
    345679
    345680 (Delete this block first)

view Log file and highlight the first number
Copy the highest number (Highlight and press control C to copy)345680
Go to Vdub select Edit > "go to" and paste the number in (Control V)
Click the yellow keyframe forward once
    Mark that as end >

Return to log file, highlight lowest number of that block and copy again 345678
Go to Vdub select Edit > "go to" and paste the number in (Control V)
Click the yellow keyframe back once
    Mark that as start <

Press delete key to remove this block, now go to the next lowest blocks and do the same.

When you have deleted them all

    Video > direct stream copy
    Audio > direct stream copy
    SAVE AVI

  3. Thank you very much King John for that....

But now my problems have only got worse

It came back saying "no bad frames were found" I realy don't want to give up on this file as I have already converted and burnt the first half of the movie and want to do the same with the second half...

So what would your advice be from here ???

heres the update... I have d/loaded this AVI file and want to convert it to VCD(mpeg) but when i run it through mpge it stops on 13% and causes the program to freeze and stop responding...

you have been wonderful in the help you have given so far and I THANK YOU for the time you have put into helping me.. but any further help you can give me with this would really be apresiated...

    Thank you again in advance...

If you try again does it still error at 13% ?, sometimes running other programs and accessing the drive can also cause this error. Sometimes you need to save out the audio in Vdub (Uncompressed and converted to 44.1Khz)

If you start the conversion again, but use the source range to get passed the error, are there any more problems ? You could re-join them with Merge & Cut later

I have seen TMPGEnc error once, but on a restart its just fine

  5. G'day again mate...

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your helpfull ideas, but I have been picking the hair up off the floor that I been pulling out

I did not understand what you ment about your last two ideas although they do sound like they would help if I could just figure out how to do them.. I'm going to go and try again ...

Yes I have tried converting it again (8 times in fact) and yes it still does get stuck at 13%... I tried a number of times to do it without anything else running, even turned off my MSN,YAHOO and ICQ, aswell as them I even shut down my screen saver just incase that was the prob...

But like I have said I have had no probs doing other files just this one and I'm about ready to delete it Although I have rechecked *cough*kazaa*cough* and cant see another/diffrent copy of the same file to d/load.....

Thank you for all the help you have been and looking at all the other problems you are trying to help solve for people I'm sure they give you a big thank you too mate
thanks for taking the time to read this your mate Q_A.....

    Ok Try this...

Let it convert as much as it can, then when it stops at 13% double click the output it made to view it. Scroll to the end of the movie it made to see what the last part of the movie is showing.

Now in TMPGEnc, select setting > advanced > source range

    Move to the same part of the movie where the other left off, and select that as the start {

Now see if you can convert the rest of the movie. You can join them back together later with merge&cut

If TMPGEnc errors immediately on your second part, go back to the source range and move forward a few frames and try again.

I have an error problem that is similar. When TMPGEnc 1.56 starts TOOLAME, TOOLAME errors a the same point each time. It appears that there is an audio problem.

I went to VirtualDub 1.4 and previewed it [F5] and it stopped with the error: Sync Error. I took notice of the frame and cut the bad ones out in TMPGEnc. I then started TMPGEnc and it went to TOOLAME again and errored at a later point. Now I am tracking that down.
Thank You & Have a great Day! :)
