  1. is it possible to record from dvd player to a vcr. if so how is it done i haven't heard of this. it is to tape vcd i have taped for my mother

    That ought to be quite easy, since a home-made VCD is not likely to be macrovision-protected, and so it should be just like copying one (non-macrovisioned) vid tape to another vid tape. You'll just need to hook the audio and video patch cables up, hit record on the VCR and play on the DVD player, and try it out for a minute or so, then play the tape back to double-check the quality. If it looks good, rewind the tape, re-start the process, and copy it all over.

    p.s. If the disk was macrovision-protected (as are retail DVD movies), you'd need something like this:
