  1. hi,

i don't know if this is the correct forum or not...but i think it's the most suitable forum, anywayz...

has anyone had problems with the SVCDs burned by Philips PCRW804 burners (8x4x32)...i only burn the SVCDs at 4x and when i tried to play them in my standalone dvd player (pioneer dv-333...u know that's got the be the SVCD problem because pioneer's can play almost anything thrown at them) the SVCD becomes jumpy, blocky, and just plain screwed up about halfway through each SVCD disc. i know it isn't the media itself because i use the exact same media with my older, slower HP burner and the SVCDs work perfectly...any help would be appreciated...

  5. i just finished burning half of the X-Files Season 1 Episodes from the DVD box set on my Acer 8x4x32 8MB model which from what i understand is based on a Phillips drive(not 100% positive, anyone please correct me if i'm wrong).
    The method I used is:
    Smartripper->DVD2AVI->TMPEG->BBMPEG(for remux)->VCDXBUILD with Entrypoints->CDRDAO->PNY Colored 80min CD's
I play these in my Pioneer 525 and they look great.
Am in the process of trying DVD2SVCD, will see if that method looks any better

I recently purchased the same philips cdrw from best buy for $69.99. I havent had a chance to do much testing but i have tried to burn a couple vcd's with winoncd and i have not been able to play them on my sony DVD player. I used media that has previously worked with other burners but i have not had a chance to try other burning programs yet.

  7. Bruser, ya...i basically used the same method, burning software, media that i used with my HP burner for my new Philips burner...

the HP burner made SVCDs that looked great on my Pioneer DV-333. however, the SVCDs burned by the Philips burner started to get choppy, jumpy, and blocky about halfway through each SVCD...even the CD-ROM in my computer has trouble reading it. Worst of all, the Philips burner has trouble reading the CDs that IT BURNED.

i know it has to be the Philips burner problem because Pioneer DV-333 r suppose to accept almost everything thrown at them. i just wanted to know if it's only my Philips burner with problems, or it happens with other people's Philips burners too...

I have the same burner and I have burned over 20 VCD's and they all work fine on my Sony DVD Player.

    Here's what I do:

Smartripper=> FlaskMPEG=> VirtualDub (for subs. and to split files)=> then I frame serve to TMPGEnc=> Nero Burning Rom.

  10. Epi,

What kind of CD disk are you using? I have the same configurations (Philips CD-RW, TMPGENC, Nero, Sony DVD player), but I could not get the philips CD-RW to recognize my CD disk.
    I am running windows 2000.

Also, did you check the size of the burned image? I can write to CD-RW disk, but I am always get 2.15MB as the image size. Don't know why.

    thanks,
    Michael

  11. Epi, yea..i burned SVCDs and my Pioneer dv-333 recognized them...however, they started to get blocky, jumpy, and choppy halfway through the SVCD disc...

did you watch those VCDs u burned completely throu without problems?

also, were u using 74 min CD-R's or 80 min CD-R's...philips burners seem to not like 80 min CD-R's very much...which really sucks

I use both 80 and 74 minute Maxell Brand cd's. I watched them all the way through and had no problems except for maybe a jerk here and there (mostly a source problem). The reason you get the 2.15 image size is because of the way Nero deals with the CD Bridge format. I have Windows ME, if that helps with anything

Is there any way to get ride of this problem? Is there any option in Nero, or should I switch to Easy CD creator?
