Having problems installing a Pinnacle DV500 capture card in a Tyan Tiger
2466N-4M under Windows 2000 Pro. Card captures perfectly but wll not playback correctly in Premiere 6 or 6.5 - playbck is intermittent with un-digitized blocks, rather like a defect DV tape. The card works fine when installed in single processor mode on the Tyan, or with my old Asus A7V333.

Have tried all the usual tricks known for the DV500 without success. In the Windows system information tool, the card is registered twice under IRQ16 and has 4 memory addresses - and that cannot be correct.

Anyone got any ideas - particularly a user named Nahow who gave the DV500 an 8 out of 10 rating in the Capture Cards section - I presume this means he actually got his working !

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Delete all references to the card under the hardware/system area in control panel. Hard reboot and let Windows pick them all up again (shouldn't have to load any drivers as they should already be there).

Check that you have no devices that use the same IRQ's etc - if you do, the remove those cards, install the DV500 first and then put those cards in - the DV500 is a bitch for sharing IRQ's.

    Hello TeeeRex,

Thanks for your reply, but I had already tried that trick.

I have now solved the problem - the Tyan Tiger board has two PCI slots that have the interrupt A capability needed by the DV500 - Slots 1 and 3.
As slot 1 is intended for special 64 bit PCI cards I used slot 3 and replay through Premiere was as described previously. Putting the DV500 into slot 1 solved the problem immediately - everything now works properly.

I must say that two processors give at least a 40% speed improvement with CCE 2.64, and the problems getting all to work were worth the effort.

    Thanks anyway, King Dick.
