  1. I use both CladDVD xp and Smartripper, also tried DVDx 2.0 with panasonic plugin.

The problem is that during certain parts of movies , The Mummy, Men In Black etc, when they speak in certain parts of the movie a subtitle will pop up and show you what they are saying.

When I rip the DVD's this does not copy onto the hardrive. I have tried to rip the english subtitle but then the subtitles appear the whole way through the movie.

Has anyone any Idea how to get these certain bits of the film where these subtitles pop up to copy to a VCD or is this a limitation of the VCD format

    TIA

This might be a stoopid question but do the subtitles emerge when characters speak in different languages ie Aliens (men in black) the Mummy (the mummy)???

Subtitles put on during film editing are part of the film frame and I don't think you could strip them. Subtitle streams are put in for the DVD only and can be stripped. Your DVD player should have a "menu" option to disable subtitle or your remote control probably has a subtitle button that will disable the subtitles.

  4. Chrome Yes that's what I mean you don't seem to be able to get these subtiles parts of a movie when you rip the DVD

  5. I thinkg I cracked it well possibly?

Using DVDx 2.0 and panasonic plugin in

On The Mummy when I ripped it of the DVD and selected the 2nd english subtitles it ripped the movie and added the appropriate subtitles when the mummy spoke and others.

Possibly this can be done on others look for a second english subtitle track.

Only trouble with this method over smartripper,dvd2avi,tmpgenc,vcdeasy is that it takes DVDx twice as long i.e The Mummy 6hrs to rip DVD and encode an mpeg file.

But it worked for this film I'll try some others and post the titles if they work this way to.

Thanks for your help and hope someone can come up with a better method than this.
