  1. Wanting to try my hand in video capturing.

I am looking to capture video from mainly satellite, some vhs and dvd, but like I said mainly satellite (DTV)

I do not have a capturing card, but am looking into different options.

I read everyones review on the Canopus ADVC-100 and it all sounded pretty good.

I have also seen the USB to DVD advertised in Maximum PC, it looks good but I have heard some negative things on USB captures.

I am not looking to replace my current video card either.

I would just appreciate everyones opinions that read this on what I should look into getting, to capture and put on cds, to get the best quality possible for a reasonable amount (under $300 preferred) but willing to go a bit higher.

    Thanks for all replies

One thing I can Say is NEVER go USB!

Some things you should look at are resolution (atleast 480 x 480/576)
    interface (PCI)
Minimum system requirements for the card...

    Hello,
I have Pinnacle Studio Deluxe, and the capture is really good (with a DV codec like Canopus product).

You just have to know that you need around 14GB per hour of capture, and to support these large AVI files, you must have a disk partition formated in NTFS !!

    Keshni.
