  1. Hello,
I am having problems creating a custom VCD that has additional long filename data files on it. Here is what I am trying to do. I am using Ulead DVD Workshop to create a VCD 2.0. (I am using DVD Workshop because of the mpeg enciding quality allong with is very customiseable menuing) Once the VCD is created, I want to rip the VCD onto my computer, edit the disk layout to include additional long filename data files, then write that back to another VCD. I have seen this done with a boxed VCD Slideshow generation software. I am just trying to create custom content for the disk. In this case, add an autorun and associated data to run an HTML slideshow when the disk is placed into a PC CD-ROM and play the VCD when played in a standalone player. Any advice on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated. I cannot use VCDImager because it only supports ISO 9660 Level 1 (8.3 filenames) Thanks for any of your suggestions... --mxfanatic

  2. I guess this needs some more attention or alternative ideas someone can help me with. I have taken my allready created VCD from the post above and ripped each track onto my system using NTI CD Maker 2000 Pro. I then attempted to edit these tracts using WinISO to add my long filename data files.. I then rip the 2 tracks back to a disk using NTI. Setting both tracks to Form 2 Mode 2, and the disk to CD-ROM XA. The problem is that the movie and menu's when played on a stand alone player are garbled. previous sections bleed onto others in horizontal blocks. The same is true if I do not modify the original tracks and just burn them back. If I do a straight CD copy, everything works fine. If there a setting in NTI, or a data type for the track I should use? or another software tool that will write the tracks back correctly. any help would fe fantastic! thanks. --mxfanatic

  3. I'm pretty certain the VCD and SVCD specs simply don't support Joliet (Windows) or Rock-ridge (Unix) formats on the data session. Is there something for which long filenames are really that important?
