  2. I am not concluding that WinXP is the problem, but I have heard nothing but bad things about it. Mainly crash problems like the one you describe. I actually know people that have switched back to an older Windows version (mostly Win2000) after having so any problems with XP. Have you been having crash problems with any other application/software? I take it that it gives you no error messages?

I hope you find a solution.

  3. or maybe try a different version of TMPGenc? Which one are you currently using and which ones have you used/tried before on XP?

I am a newbie so I probably couldn't help you with the differences in the versions, which O/S they work best with, etc., but maybe someone else can use the questions I am asking and build on them.

Just trying to brainstorm for you, that is probably about all I can do.

    Good Luck.

Are you sure that it is hanging and not doing the final render of the streams. Normally if you do an SVCD encode in TMPG with CQ VBR, it stops at like 1 second to go, and more or less multiplexes it's streams. That takes approx. 5 or 6 minutes which could give you the illusion of it not responding.

I'm running 257 plus in XP pro with no issues.

  6. Its not hanging it just ends the program. you can se the final file and you can burn it but the last few seconds is not in it. Its not so bad becuse almost all the movies is the end text, but sometimes there is a little thing in the end like in Scary Movie that will not be "encoded". I have been using this version of TMPGEnc, wene i was on 98 and did not have this problem. This is not the only XP issu i got i cant even remove files, it stands: The file XXXXXX is been using by...... and you cant remove it not even after reboot.
