  1. Im trying to make a VCD copy of Lord of the Rings, this is my second attempt at doing this. I tried once before on diff. dvd, and i got the commentary track , so i didn't bother with it again, but now im trying to do this, but when i pop the dvd into my computer's dvd drive, it doesn't pop up any information, nor does my dvd player software come up, or does it recognize a disk in the drive(thru explorer). SmartRipper also says, there isn't a disc in the drive, im wondering if this is some type of safety measure they have put on the disc, and if anyone has come up against this problem, how did they fix it. If it helps, i have a Dell Dimmensions 4400 1.9ghz 256mb of ram, dunno what kind of DVD drive they give ya, prolly a crappy one :P , all i know is its 16x. thanks in advance.

Decided to stop being lazy and go into my hardware config
i have a Samsung DVD SD-616t DVD player.

Try opening your dvd software and playing the movie that way. I have heard that if smartripper has trouble reconizing a dvd that that would help.
