just got a new dvd rom drive and i tried to rip my first dvd but it is my understanding that i needed to play it for a few minutes first with a player(to unlock it )...so i got power dvd and it said file format not supported and it was error code: 89030000. i tried several other players like windvd, sasami, video lan...all failed, the only one who gave me an error code was power dvd.
the cyberlink power dvd website mentioned a similar error code: (89030000E) which said that i should close all debugging programs...but i wasn't running any in the first place...
i also tried updating the aspi which i did successfuly, however, the problem is still there.
is there something wrong with my drive...? or is it that i need to install something else...
its been a very frustrating weekend![]()

First of all, make sure al of the normal DVD compatibility settings are set: make sure DMA mode is enabled on your DVD drive (let me know if you don't know how to do this) etc. If this doesn't work, try reinstalling your video drivers, then Power DVD. If this doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you unless you have some strange or old hardware in your system. You might want to post up your system specs here.
Good Luck

well...ill try to reinstall the video driver and see what happens..
my system is fairly new:
p4 1.4ghz, 640MB Rumbus RAM, win 98SE. pioneer 500m dvd rom. i do use nero burning software and i heard some rumors about it that it messes up dvd playback or something like that but i dont know exactly what i need to tweak...
yea...the dma is enabled so as sync data and all that. im running out of options...this is realy frustrating since even if i get a new dvd rom drive it might still have the same problems im having now.
any help is mostly apreciated...thanks -

The "debugging programs" Cyberlink mentions...is that our Antivirus...as I thought that I read somewhere that this may screw things up...somehow. Let me know how you remedy this and I will do the same if I find out how to fix it first.Proud Canadian -
