I have some old DVD movies in DIVX format ( for you that remember they tried to make you pay every time you watched the movie). My question is, i have tried to copy this movies and my DVD - rom won't recognize the disc. Is there a way to rip these movies?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

You still have those??? WOW. You some real ancient stuff. If a DVD-ROM won't recognize it, I'm guessing a dvd-rw won't make a difference since it's also a dvd-rom when it has to read dvd discs.
