Im new, and, i need help! I would really appreciate someone helping me, even though I KNOW all of answers are on this site. Im just clueless and im getting VERY confused on all of the info on this site! Its a great site though! OK, last week, i decided to download some Movies that are AVI's from Kazaa. Ive seen VCD's that have been downloaded from that site, and, the movies LOOK AWESOME on my DVD player, compared to mine, even if the play! If i get them to play, they are DARk, Voice is off, and, i see lots of blocks and very blurry(thats if they even play!). At first (LIKE I SAID I HAVE NO CLUE), i would download the movie, open up NERO, and, just create and VCD, and, it would ENCODE it first ( I have no idea what it was encoding it to), and, then it would copy it to my CDR. Do i have to go somewhere to convert to something first before NERO eNcodes it?Should NeRO even have to encode it if another I dont know where to start or what to do, and , ive wasted around 20 CDRs this past week, trying and trying different things. I even tried the TMPGEnc converter, and, i either get a Black or Green screen while previewing it. Im about to give up. I would appreciate any, any tips at all! Im going nuts trying to figure out how to do this correctly! Thanks!

You are probrably downloading divx avi files, so everything I write is making the assumption you want to convert divx to VCD.
Firstly check your divx file for bad frames, a surprising amount of divx films have bad frames which will halt the encoding process at that point. If you don't check it first you can waste hours encoding and it might fail at 90% done.
Use Virtualdub 1.4.9 or later and open the DivX. Select File->Scan Video stream for errors. If you have no errors then fine, you can go straight onto the conversion. If you do have errors Select Video->DirectStreamCopy and Audio->DirectStreamCopy and last save the new DivX, File->Save as avi with a new filename.
If when scanning the file you get an mmx error then you need to use a different piece of software called mp3 freeze. You can search for it on the forum. When doing it this way you have to manually select the bad frames and remove them. After scanning a log is created on the root of the C: drive with a list of the bad frames.
Most of the information that you need on the file you are going to convert can be seen if you open the file in virtualdub, and select File->File information. Pay particular attention to the framerate, and how the audio is encoded.
The divx file now needs to be converted to VCD compliant mpeg. Don't use nero to encode use TMPGEnc. Read this
http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm
If the audio is out of sync after conversion then it needs uncompressing to a wav file, I tend to do this with all my conversions just to make sure I have no sync issues. Read this
http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm
If it has AC3 5 channel audio you need to use a piece of software called headac3he. Read this
http://forum.vcdhelp.com/userguides/91588.php
You then need to author and burn your VCD. Read this
http://www.vcdhelp.com/nero.htm
There is a lot to read and it may all seem a bit overwhelming at first, but once you have got the hang of it, it really is very easy to create a great looking VCD from a good DIVX file.
Remember crap in = crap out. If the divx is highly compressed and does'nt look good when played on your PC, then the VCD will not look good either. When downloading a full length movie I aim for files 600MB and up. The VCD's I create from quality DIVX rips look better than a VHS tape.
Have Fun

Thanks for your help!
I just noticed that most of the movies that i downloaded (they are all of the Newest movies) are around 3xx X 2XX for the res. So, this means that the movie will be really bad to view? Are all of the newer movies always this low for the res?
Like i said, i dont know a thing about this. Is Kazaa the best site for movies? Thanks
