I want to back up a DVD movie "SEVEN" to DVD-R. My problem is that this movie is broken up into 2 parts on this disk, half the movie is on side A and the other half of course is on side B. I want to put it on 1 single layer single sided DVD-R. I need to know what I to do to combine these sides to make one whole unbroken movie. Is it possible to make it completelely seamless so that the 2nd half doesnt have to be started in the middle of the movie? Bare in mind that I am a newbie at this. Please tell me what to do if possible in a way that would be easy for me to understand. Thanks.

There are guilds in the how to section for most of these instructions so I won't go into real detail, just the basic steps...
Use smartripper to rip both sides
Use DvD2AVI to make them into an AVI
Use virtualdub to combine both avi's into one avi(thus making it seamless)
Use Tmpegenc to make the avi into a dvd compatiable movie
Use spruce it or dvdit or yer favorite dvd authorning program to make it into the right VOB files and use nero to burn it
Look on the side panel under 'how to' to find really specific/detailed explainations of each step -
Ok I used dvd2avi to make the d2v and wave file, but the only problem is that VirtualDub doesnt recognize the d2v files....how do I merge the 2 d2v and .wav files with Virtualn Dub?

Well I finally was able to figure this software out. There arent very good newbie guides for Virtual Dub and DVD2AVI. I pretty much spent over 24 hours figuring it out on my own thru trial and error.
Thanks anyway. -
Is that 24 hours of total working time? Do you really mean that you figured it out in just one, single day?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
I need to know how to keep the original 6 channel AC3 sound track for this movie. After all the converting it was an MPEG 1 audio track. I would prefer to keep the original audio stream. Is it not possible when doing the above procedures? Or am I just stuck with the MPEG1 stereo sound?
