  1. hi
I have hp dvd200i and I burned +RW and it worked on my Panasonic DVD-CV36 player (a nice and cheap 5 disc changer bought from costco) the first time and after that, my player wouldn't read it. I tried the compatibility mode 2 and it doesn't help. The +R disc wouldn't read either. PowerDVD plays it fine.

    So what are my options?
    (1) Change the panasonic player (not an attractive option) ?
    (2) Are there any firmware upgrade that would enable it to start reading +RW/+R discs? BTW, HP lists DVD-CV51 in its compatibility list?
    (3) Change to another Ricoh 5125 (Philips/Ricoh/Memorex) models?
    (4) Should I look at -RW/-R burners? Pioneer A04? However, I like the 2.4X speed of the +R/+RW.

    thanks

Panasonic DVD-CV36 players works great with both +R and +RW media! The problem turned out to a bad HP DVD-200i drive!

I got the drive from Office Max at $299. The first one wouldn't read DVD and then I exchanged it for another which wrote +RW once! Later writes failed with write error. Frustrated, I returned the HP drive and went and bought Phillips DVDRW228 at Circuit city here in Lewisville (DFW, TX) for $449 - $50 Mail in rebate - $100 instore gift card. Hence. essentially, it came to $299 + taxes!
The bundled Nero software works like a champ and I have tested +R and +RW and it work great on my Panasonic DVD-CV36 player
    thanks
