  1. Hi!

    Under SVCD it says:

max 2524 kbit/sec MPEG-2 (if the audio is in 224 kbit/s), audio + video bitrate max bitrate is 2748 kbit/s

Does that mean CBR or VBR?

What I mean is: Can I have a SVCD with VBR Avarage Bitrate of 2524 and a Max Bitrate of 3000 or more?

    Thanx,

    Spellbinder

  2. It means the MAX bitrate must not exceed 2524kbit/s for the video, even with VBR. Though most players will handle a little more.

  3. This is an issue I still have questions about. The spec refers to the maximum bitrate, but does not address the question of average or MAX. It does say "not to exceed", but you could construe that as the AVG not to exceed. For instance, when we refer to bitrate, we usually mean the avg for the entire file.

At any rate, most players will go at least to 2600 or 2800, if not higher.
