if you are looking for the standard templates, they are allready included in the tmpgenc directory... If they are not there, you may just need to re download tmpgenc. Tmpgenc comes with 3 standard svcd templates, NTSC, NTSC Film, and PAL. No offence to the creators of these templates, but the ones mentioned above are not standard svcd.

cbr (constant bitrate) is by far the fastest, but it also uses up the disk faster. the bitrate allways remains at the same rate.

both cq and vbr are variable bitrate. cq (constant quality) works with only one pass, and yields good quality, but the file size is very unpredictable. it could be very large or very small...just depends on the source material.

vbr 2 pass(variable bit rate) takes twice as long since it it 2 pass. The first pass analyzes the video, then the second pass actually encodes. vbr is very predictable concerning file sizes. Once you calculate the average bitrate, then tmpgenc will automatically raise and lower the bitrate as needed (fast motion requires more bitrate to look right, whereas low motion does not need as much).

My personal pick is vbr, imho

    Sorry Liquid
Not wishing to be picky (as your help is much appreciated) but...
When u say leave it on high you mean.....
    1) High Quality(slow)
    2) Highest Quality(very slow)
    3) Motion Estimate Search(fast)

Sorry for not being on your wavelength.

    Cheers

  12. I do pick 2-pass VBR for myself. Well, i'm picky *LOL*, so i sacrifice time and file size to acheive best quality, anyway CDr are durt cheap and is not a limitating factor!

It takes about 14 hours for a typical 45min TV show episode at 1850 biterate and fit on a 700Mb CD, just leave your machine run overnight, it's not a big deal.
