  1. 1. Recently I ripped .vobs that was reported by DVD2AVI as 720x360,
as opposed to the ones I've done previously 720x480.
Normally I snag all the .vobs to HD then run DVD2AVI to create the .avi and .wav.
Then run TMPGEnc and choose - VideoCD (NTSC).mcf.
And under SETTINGS - ADVANCED TAB I choose the source aspect ratio
either 4:3 or 1:1. Well for 720x480 I always seem to get a final output mpg file that looks sweet.
PROBLEM is if i follow these procedures for 720x360 my final mpg is SQUISHED ! Anyone know why ? I like widescreen best.
    2. I ran DVD2AVI on some .vob files and DVD2AVI normally reports
    for AUDIO FORMAT: DD 3/2 448. fine...but..........
recently I ran it on some .vobs and DVD2AVI reported AUDIO FORMAT as
DTS sooooooooooo when the final conversion was done all i had was the .avi file and NO .wav file... yikes .
What is the secret here to creating a .wav for this confounded DTS thing ??

    1) When encoding from DVD, the source aspect ratio should be either 4:3 or 16:9. 1:1 is appropriate for DivX, for example. When you first load the vobs into DVD2AVI, press F5 and see whether the movie is 4:3 or 16:9. Press escape before you save your project file. It's not always accurate, but most times it is. And it will never be 1:1.

    2) In the audio settings for DVD2AVI, choose demux rather than decode, and see what you end up with. I once got a DVD with mpeg sound, so I ended up with an .mpa file. (I think). 8)
