OK, 2 minor problems that I would like some suggestions on.
I found this problem I encountered on the Virtualdub site:
I see a greyish, wavering line at the bottom of my capture. It looks sort of like the picture, but distorted. If it's only a few lines at the bottom, it's likely VHS head switching noise. Ignore it or crop it out afterward.
I see this ONLY when viewing the video on my computer. Its gone if I make a VCD and view it on TV.
Other than the suggestions about cropping it out is their any other way to eliminate this? Would using a different VCR for my source eliminate it?
-----------
After using the many helpful tips here I made a much higher quality MPEG than before and made a VCD. On the VCD I could see just some blocky area's in just a few spots instead of all over. Are there any settings to reduce this further so there are no blocky spots? I used the noise filter in TMPGenc set at 2-1-2. Any way to reduce it even further?

Search the boards for:
overscan
and you'll find out why edge trash that is visible on the PC players (usually) doesn't show up when you watch the same video on your TV.As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
OK, and what about reducing any blockiness from the picture more than I did.
