I am wanting to get some kind of video capture card to make some VCD and SVCD's of home movies. Would this card do the trick for a few months I would probably be running it on a P2 400 machine until I build a new one. Thanks and sorry for my ignorance.

  2. Wonder VE is good to watch/record tv and make VCD's(limited to 640x240).I bought one for $20 after rebate and I wasn't sorry,it does what it advertises. If you want to make SVCD's or DVD's get a ATI Radeon video card(VIVO,AIW).

  3. I agree, its a very decent card with very good image quality.
I would suggest using AVI_IO or VirtualDub to capture with
    however.

I dont know if the card supports or has WDM drivers... Its
necessary if you capture long files since VFW has a 2 gig
    limit which WDM does not.

Another good card, but more expensive but includes both
WDM and VFW drivers is the WinTV-GO from Hauppague.

    HTH, Good luck!

I have been looking on the net since your post for avi_io and virtualdub. I am thinking maybe I need to look under another name or something. If you could lead me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks

  5. TV Wonder is a pretty good card for the price, the thing is the drivers suck, and ATI's multimedia center sucks as well. I know, I know, you're all saying, what? Ati write lousy software? never...

Anyways, there are generic tv card drivers out there that work really well once you get them installed properly. I don't remember the link, but check out the capture card section in this site and look up the tv wonder, someone posted the link at the top of the comments section. Also, not sure if ATI's mmc will work with these drivers, but PowerVCR works like a peach I tell you.

  7. hi.
i bought the card last week and am very satified so far. ive been using mmc to capture. i tried using powervcr but got lots of ghosts and trails when people walked on screen or anything in motion. i am using the drivers that came with the card. i cant even get vdub to work at all. just a blue screen. you say the generic drivers will solve these issues?
