  1. I just purchased Radeon 7500 with TV-out. But when i watch movies on my tv, image has black bars at top and bottom. I decided to check what tv-out feeds to tv - recorded clip on vcr and looked through tv-card. And found that Radeon adds black space around picture to compensate overscan. But they're too large! Is there any way (or, preferable, utility) to modify/disable that?

  2. Are the black bars around only movies that you play or are they around everything, like your desktop as well? If they are around everything, make sure you have the latest drivers from ATi.com, then go to your advanced display properties and click on "Displays." Here you can see what display devices you are using (which I'm sure you know) click on the "TV" button, then on "Adjustments." Here you can adjust the vertical and horizontal size of the TV display. Raising the vertical size of your display should do the trick.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Well, drivers even have button "overscan" on/off - but it still leave approx. 14-20 pixel wide bars (with everything - desktop, overlay theater mode...) . And on one of my TVs - soviet-made "Raduga" they're VERY visible. Also annoying enough on "Hitachi" - esp vertical bars.
Adjustment - it's doesn't allow to do more than provided by enabling "overscan" button. Mostly good for zooming, imho.
