  1. I'm interested in purchasing a printer that will print on CDs and DVDs, but I don't have nearly enough information and thought I'd turn to you smart folks for some help.

I found this one first, most interesting because it's only $399.95.

Says it has "EPSON C-60 Engine. Compatible with all inkjet Printable CDR or DVD. PC or MAC Compatible" but I'm still a little confused as to why it's so cheap. Are CDs printed on inkjet CD printers going to be good quality? Will the ink be permanent, or would it start to peel up later?

    Here's another site I found:
    http://www.summationtechnology.com/printers.htm
This one offers an inkjet printer for $499, and says "2880 dpi
4 color "PHOTO" printing". See, I'm curious now... if this one says it's four colors, why would it be more expensive than the other printer that gives the impression that it's full color? Or is the other cheaper printer only going to be four color also?

Also, what is Thermal printing, and why is it better than inkjet printing? I'm interesting in getting a thermal printer, but it's much more expensive (like $3000 expensive), but is it more expensive because it's a higher quality? Because it's more permanent?

And what about the ~$1200 inkjet printers, are they going to be significantly better than the cheaper, but less than the thermal?

Can someone please sort out these options for me? Please!!

  2. I believe the thermal printers can print onto any cd (by that I mean ones with a plain silver top) whilst the inkjet type have to be used with those printer cds that have a printable white surface on top.

  3. You realise the 4 colours are mixed to create any colour. The reason it states that it is a 4 colour printer is because most printers are 3 colour.
