I'm using SpruceUp for authoring a DVD. My recorder is a Pioneer DVR-104. If I burn directly on to a DVD-RW I get a message 'Further disc writing is aborted!'(or something simiar!) and the disk is not written.
I had to use Nero to burn the image created in the SpruceUp working directory.
Can someone help why I can't write to the DVD-RW directly from SpUp? I have never tried this option with a DVD-R, in fear of crapping a DVD-R!, and I presume it would be the same.
Is DVR-104 is supported by SpruceUp in the first place?
Help please!!

Did you play your MPEG2 file assets in "Simulate" before trying to write? If it does not play in "Simulate" you did something wrong when you added your assets and created your backgrounds and menu links. -
y bother trying to write with spruce perosonally i wounld trust spruce to write my dvds. and this way you can check you complie went well and burn with a real burning program later. but just a thought.

SpruceUp is way unstable to burn things with anyway. Under Win98 it barely works. It is one of the few titles that can reasonably author a DVD though.

Spruce up can not burn directly to the 104. Make a disc image, then burn the image with stomp record now max. (The new veritas version of mydvd package)

I agree, Spruceup very unstable... Spruce to author, Nero to burn... It's safer, better, and really only takes about 3 more seconds. Plus you can preview the title set with PowerDVD before burning to make sure everything went ok.

Hi to All,
I'm a big SpruceUp user and I have a Pioneer DVD-A03 writer. You can make a disc image with spruce like "dvdimage.img" and then use the instant write software from your dvd-writer to write the dvd (udf format).
This should work. I've done this many times.
Although Spruce is not that stable it is the only author program I know of that really can burn the whole 4.7 Gb on a DVD disc....too bad that they have stopped supporting it....

I found spruce to be very unstable for burning even on a freah install!, like av-freak says just make your image and burn with another program and it'll work. My prefence is Primo, works for me every time with my A04 ;)

Spruceup is no longer supported by Spruce Technologies. I was not being supported around the time the DVR-A04 first hit the scene, so the drive definition files may not have been updated However, just use Spruce to create TITLE SETS of your DVD project, and burn these to your disk. NERO does a good job using the DVD-Video template. Just drag and drop the Spruce created files.
