  1. Can anybody help me with this little problem.Every time i convert an AVI,the sound gets all metallic. The source AVI is fine,no audio problem whatsoever.

I first extract the audio with Virtualdub(it sound great),then i use the wav with TMPGenc as audio source. and the result is metallic sound.

I have also tried to use TOOLame as external audio encoder and SSRC as external sample rate converter, the result is the same, metallic sound.

I think the problem persists, because TMPGenc does its own sample rate conversion, even though i have specified external tools for this process. Is there any way of turning SRC off in TMPGenc? Or is there a better program to convert AVI´s with?

I have even tried the DVD2AVI guide,on these pages, on how to convert the wav first, and nothing seems to work.

  3. Have you tried to see if the WAV you made with Vdub is "metallic"?
Could be a Vdub prob as opposed to TMPGE

  4. All is fine,up til the conversion. The files sound very ok,after extraction with virtualdub. The problem is with TMPGenc, not virtualdub.

  5. Are you changing audio from 48000 down to 44100 or dropping bitrate below 128?

  6. That is what the sample rate conversion is for,i change the sound from 48000 to 44100,but again this is not the problem.the problem only occurs AFTER conversion with TMPGenc. So please read my first post and make any suggestions. All the problems occur AFTER conversion, not before every audio file is good,it was fine when i extracted it,it was fine after i converted it to 44100,so in conclusion THE AUDIO IS FINE UP UNTIL CONVERSION.Now do you have any suggestions as to why it happens during conversion? Or do you have any suggestions as to a different program that can convert the AVI files with no loss in sound quality.I am pretty sure what happens is,that TMPGenc does its own SRC,even though i have specified external tools for the job.
