  1. Thanks for the help with the HD (earlier post) - but now I've got something really unusual happening -

Frameserving from Premiere into TMPGenc using Rui's guide (everything maxed out) on XP PRO (IV@1.8Ghz 512RAM) -

First time it crashed after 1% so I restarted, set it up again - this one went for about an hour but when I came back to check on it the window for TMPGenc was there - but there was nothing inside!

Clicking on Video Server or Premiere tabs brought up nothing - CTRL-ALT-DEL task manager said all three programs were not responding -

..but it was still writing to the HD!

Killed all Apps and the file was there - about half a Gig - ran it in Windows Media Player and it played great (at least for the 6 1/2 minutes that were there!). I'm going to restart and try again.

I had virus program and screen saver running, so I'm going to try turning these off - anyone experience this problem or have a fix for it?

Thanks again for all your help!

  2. OK. It crashed again - at almost the same exact point - 6:02 in the source file the first time, 5:58 in the source file at the second time. The source file is 15:00 min in length.

    Source file is DV, 720x480.

There isn't a different file or some crazy edit at that point - so I'm not quite sure what it could be.

Premiere is the program that comes up as not responding (the one that crashes first) - this is approx. one hour into the transcoding.

A previous file that was 8 min. total worked perfectly the first time (no problems at all).

I'm trying motion search estimate now to see if it's acceptable.

    Any other ideas?
