I picked up a Cendyne DVR-104 Sunday but haven't opened it as I wanted to clear up on some things. I was told from some friends to get the Pioneer A04 and the guy at MicroCenter swore it was the exact same. He said the Pioneer A04 is a repackaged Cendyne DVR-104 (or the other way around). Is that correct? Like is it just as good and as fast and everything? I just would like to know what everyone thinks? Is it a keeper? I asked this in a reply to another post but didn't get an answers and I'd like to know ASAP so I can install it!

    Thanks,
    Danny

I can't say for certain that it is the Pioneer drive, but I do know that Cendyne drives are OEM'd from other manufacturers so it very well could be.

I bought a Cendyne DVR-A03 (Pioneer) in April from MicroCentre in Dallas, TX. Only the invoice sticker on the box and the receipt said Cendyne. The box showed a Pioneer drive, the drive itself says Pioneer, a blank Pioneer DVD-R was in the box, and it came with a Pioneer CD for the included software. I got the $50 Cendyne rebate they were offering. It was confusing at the time and I was skeptical even after asking two salespeople.

You should be able to return it if it isn't what you expect.

I have no problems with mine and I've just about forgotten that Cendyne had anything to do with it - it's a Pioneer DVR-A03 in every way.

  6. That's the rumor I heard, Cendyne is a Pioneer. All CenDyne products are rebadged. I bought their 40x cd writer wich is a Lite-on and that's the only reason I bought it. I personally would just go for an oem pioneer for around the same price.
