  1. Hello,
I have a dell 1ghz, 512 ram, 40gb hard drive with a 40 8 40 cd writer. I also own a digital camcorder (dv) I want to purchase the components I need so I can capture video, transfer video from my camcorder, and then convert it to play on my home dvd player - firewire card, capture card and whatever else I need. I would also like to add another hard driveI need help on exactly what I need to do this. Thanks!!!

  2. If you only want to transfer DV all you need is a firewire card, very cheap approx £20. Hard drive well take your pick, Ive got 2 IBM deskstar 120GB drives. The first one I bought several months ago and cost me over £300, I just bought another one for only £100. Whatever size you choose go for 7200rpm. As for a capture card you dont need one unless you intend to capture from an analogue source. And even if you do want to capture from an analogue source you may find that you can use your camcorder as an analogue to digital converter (known as passthrough) and use your firewire card.
