  1. When I burn vcds on CD-Rs and CD-RWs it doesn't play on the DVD player, but it does on the computer... does that mean my DVD player doesn't support CD-R's nor CD-RW's? Or maybe I should try another speed to burn it at? I looked at the compatibility list and the comments but I don't really understand because I'm only a newbie at this kinda stuff... and also, I tried erasing a CD-RW and it didn't work! The popup that says remaining time and time elapsed and such goes away when there is 17:36 left ... and it does that all the time! I use Nero 5.5 to burn... can someone help me? Any help is appreciated!

  2. its certainly possible that your dvd player cant play cd-r[w] disc's. go back to the compatiblility list and read the explinations at the bottom..

    Explanation:
    CDR = Works
CDR = Does not work but it may work on some CD-R(W) brands, read the Comments for more info
    CDR? = Not tested
Green Layer = Means it works good with green layers CDs but can also work on all other layers

If your burning on a cd-r disc read the first colum next to the name of the dvd player you are using. it will tell you what kind of disc you can/cannot use. if your using cd-rw look at the second colum next to the dvd player name, it will have the info on the kind of disc's it can/cannot play.

It may just be a simple problem with the disc, like you need to buy a diffrent layered disc (i.e. - silver/green/blue etc..).

    Good luck with that.

  3. hmm it says it is compatible with a CDR Blue Layer and that's what I used, but when I put it in, it said "No Disc." I tried using a cd-rw, but it doesn't play when I just put it in...Although, before I put it in and ejected a couple times and pressed a button and it started playing...the problem is I don't remember what I did... any ideas?

    Light or deep blue?

Try a disk made with Metal Azo. That stuff is dark, dark blue.

If it can't play Metal Azo, then it might be a defect.

  5. the cd i used was a light blue... can u suggest any brands of cds that make them with Metal Azo? i've never heard of it... oh and if it doesn't play that cd made with Metal Azo, then it means my dvd player doesn't support cd-r nor cd-rw?

  6. If I remember correctly, Verbatim is the only manufacterer to use Azo. You might also want to try a 'black cdr'. I've heard of people having luck using those. btw: What player do you have?

Verbatium is the only company that makes Metal Azo recording disks. You must buy Datalife plus, not ecomony life.

They will say CD-R80 and It will say Premuim Azo Blue Technology.

Also, CD-R Gold dye are reported to work when nothing else will.

    Imation and Koadc make these

  8. I had a similar problem but I found the solution.
Using the Nero just make an image file on your hard disk first and then burn this created image onto the CD.

I don't know why but this is the only way I got it workable.

    I hope this helps.

Try to use Mr. Write 4X CDRW. It works most of the time. There is more information at http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=351&Search=Search&list=0

  11. On a Samsung Max-945D (combo DVD and HiFi) I tried playing DVDs copied as VCDs on blue layer CD-Rs, but got the 'No Disc' message. I have just tried using a silver layer CD-R. I don't get the 'No Disc' message, but the display on the Samsung shows 'CODE-CO', and the screen shows 'This Disc Cannot Be Played, Please Check The Disc'. Incidentally, the VCD-Rs play OK on my PC.

Have you got any idea what 'CODE-CO' means, and how I overcome it?

    Thanks for any help.
