Just wondering if there are _any_ methods to author a DVD from once-ripped DVD that contains subtitles either as in SVCD/CVD subs or in separate format (SSA, SubRip, etcetc).

The thing is that I'm ripping movies now into CVD format and to store those on CDR and waiting for a DVD-R drive (or to get money to buy one actually and then I would simply transfer the CVDs (obviously with 48kHz audio & stuff) back to DVD-R, putting 2-3 movies on each disc.

Problem is that I store subs as in SVCD subtitles and so far I haven't found _any_ way to extract the subs out from SVCD/CVD and put them back to DVD.

Ideas? Is there a DVD authoring tool avail that would support ripping scenes de facto subtitle formats, like SubRip, VobSub, SSA, etc? Or in ideal situation, a solution for converting SVCD or CVD subs into DVD subs?

To reply to myself, I haven't found the way to demux SVCD or CVD subs and convert them into some general subtitle format yet. Anyone who might have solution for this one, please help.

Anyway, doom9 has a nice guide for SubAdjust/MaestroSBT/Maestro -combo that allows you to use virtually any regular subtitle format (.srt, .sub, etc) and convert them into SSA and then into Maestro's subtitle format and author the DVD. Obviously the problem is that Spruce DVDMaestro is a commercial software

Geez, only thing what we seem to be missing nowadays is 100% open source, free DVD authoring software with "moron" / "advanced" user levels. (moron level would only allow drag/drop of ready video/audio/subtitle files and would create some very, very basic menus without asking anything from the user).
