Here is my question:
Just over a year ago, I really got into video capture. Have had alot of fun and alot of headaches with it too. I have found that once you get past the inital "coolness" of it, you see your VCD's and think that the quality is poor, sound off, etc. So my question is, if I decide to spend the money on a DVD-R and start capture for DVD, will my image quality improve and my sound stop going haywire?

If your source is crap(crappy vhs, asf, smr) don't except any miracles...garbage in garbage out. And sync problems may be a capture problem so it doesn't matter if you are doing vcd or svcd or dvd. Please tell us more what you would like to acheive and from what sources.

Thanks for the response!
I am capturing from my Sony 8mm camcorder. I use an ATI All In Wonder, and capture using MGI Videowave 5. I capture to AVI format with the Huffy codec. It comes in okay, it seems that when I convert to MPEG1, is when some of the issues occur. Make any sense?
