I am capturing VHS in Virtual Dub, and then converting to DVD in Tmpegenc. When I play the file in my Apex AD1500, the volume is very loud. (Any factory dvds I play sound just right at full player volume (16). I have to turn it down to 3 or 4 to get the same volume with my captures). I have my line-in volume set for recording and turned all the way down. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I find that volume settings are as varied as there are video subjects. You almost need to adjust the volume on every capture. If I have to do this, I strip out the audio, convert it to a .WAV file, import it into COOL EDIT and amplifiy or reduce the volume to my satisfaction, then reconvert it back to its original form, then remux it back in.
Another trip that usually works for me, is to turn the volume down on my TV!
