  1. I bought a 5 pack or the Memorex 10x high speed cd-rw's, i burnt off a movie which was 2 parts, on part 1 i burnt it at 10x, and it played fine, i did the same for part 2 and my dvd wouldn't play it, then i burnt it at 8x, same thing...finally worked on 4x, Question 1 is that normal, it not working when burnt at high speeds...I used cdrwin to burn

Later on i went to format the cd-rw's that worked and or the ones that didn't, all 3 of them now give me write cd errors, on format...i'm using nero to format them...Question 2 is that normal, there being errors like that one 3 discs.

I'm using TDK 12x10x32, with burnproof so it isn't underrun

Please help ASAP i need to know so i can return the cd-rw's and if it's my burner's messing things up say so i have a service plan and will gladly change it out for something newer

Did Nero do a full format or a quick format ?. Maybe you need to use the full format. It does sound like things are not working as they should, but chances of having 3 bad disks is no common.

    you'd be surprised...especially with Memorex.
I bought a 25 spindle of their RW's and got 7 bad discs
I wrote them a nasty email, and they sent me 10 new discs...and all of them worked! although one of my original ones that was working just started not to work...even after doing a full erase with Nero
what are you askin' me for...
    I'm an idiot!

  4. No i was using full erase, when i got the errors on there i tried quick just for good measure same results only quicker, as it turns out. If Memorex is that bad are there other brands that are recomended for cd-rw's?

Yes it is possible when you buy in bulk spindles, but packs of 10 should be ok. I have used Maxell and TDK since the beginning of time, never once had any problems with them. Maxell are buy 1 get 1 free at the moment here, so I have lots 16X burn at 24X just fine, also have some TDK I have made at 40X with no problems. Also some TDK CDR-W I burn at 12X for tests VCD's

Have you tried to erase them with another program ?

  8. I don't know what other programs to use to format other than nero and directcd, but i refuse to install anything adaptec, out of principal, where do you get the TDK cd-rw's, i didn't see any when i was at Best Buy which is where i got the memorex

I just looked a bit for TDK and didn't see High Speed media that's also 700mb, correct me if this is wrong, Then i ask this would it be bad for the cd-rw if it was 4x to burn it at let's say 10x, cause I'm not waiting 22minutes for a SVCD, since i store them on cd-r's and have to make an image then burn

I just bought a 5pk of Memorex CR-RWs (the 1x - 4x speed type). My burner can go up to 8x, but I thought I would get the 1-4x since I usually burn at a lower speed for quality purposes. But when I put the CD-RW into the drive, the drive doesn't even recognize the disc. I did this for 3 of them. My Memorex 10x CD-RWs work fine. Am I being stupid here???

What email address should I use because I am quite steamed. I actually thought that it was my burner or my stupidity. I THOUGHT that Memorex was a good brand. I would appreciate the email address. Thanks!

I never liked Memorex CD-RWs. Always gave me errors after being formated once or twice. You should try "Verbatim Data Life Plus CD-RW", I have them and they take quite a beating and no errors even with quick formats. Maxell CD-RWs aren't bad either.

Well the TDK CDR-W I have are 10X so they write just fine at 12X. They were got for me from a local computer shop here in England, they had the 4X only in stock, so I told them I would buy hundreds if they got some. So far I have only bought a few I don't see why there should be any problems at a little higher speed. My writer will adjust itself for the strength, maybe that's not available in other writers.
