Does this even exist? I tried a websearch, but I'm still at square one.

I own a descrambling box, but I'd like to be able to watch premium channels on my pc, without having to tune the box to the desired station.

If anyone can post some helpful links, I would appreciate it.

    ...well...

There were a few attempts made, most were only for PAL systems, most of those could only do Black-and-White output, and even then it was hit-and-miss. I don't know of any capture solutions for NTSC that even got this far.

What I DO wish could be done... hacking a Digital Cable box to allow all channels, and have the cable company know nuzzing!

It appears we're both out of luck, but it's good to dream...

Search and you will find ITV digital was hacked to death, as most other "notso SMART" systems

I guess your not in the UK then, ITV digital has now closed. There are hacks for sky/ntl digital. These are same world wide. However viewing movies without paying for them, could be illegal in your country.

Use a search engine for "TV without frontiers"

    Hmm...

I do know that on initialization, it typically gives you all channels for a while, until it is told not to (5 minutes to 2 hours), but after that it seems to check with the cable company to see what you're supposed to get...

Perhaps if there were a way to have it not ask...

    Whoops, I typed that out, didn't I?

Thanks for the reply. I thought of something that might work, for analog cable. A few years ago, I saw some inline descrambling gadgets that are hooked up before the cable box. I'm guessing that one of these would work.

I don't know about finding one, though.

Those are no good for digital, all that did was shift the frequency up. I made one for a few pounds

True enough, the anolog solutions obviously dont' work on Digital (since digital just plain blocks out channels, doesn't scramble). I haven't even seen any web sites of people TRYING to hack a digital cable box (the link provided is 2 years old, and only on European providers)...

I'm totally shocked, since most boxes seem software-driven, my box seems to get updated frequently (even the info windows change appearance from time to time). Where there's software, there's usually people trying to manipulate it...

Oh, well, I probably don't want the trouble from "playing" anyway.
