  1. Ive converted avi files to mpeg many times b4 so i can burn to VCD and when you convert them the mpeg file ends up a little bigger than the original avi.However an avi file i have that is 694 mb in size will expand to 4 gig in size if i let tpmg continue.Im using the same settings i had b4 so what could be the problem ?

    Hi

    The original AVI might be corrupt at the end, which makes TMPGEnc carry on. Switch on preview while encoding, you can then see when the movie has finished, and hit stop.

    You can then delete everything after the last frame with split/merge in TMPGEnc

    Option > Preview Option > Display with thinning

  3. Hi

    I tried using the wizard and its saying the movie length is 715 minutes even tho its only 110 mins and the size of the mpeg is going to be 14 gig Even after a few minutes of encoding ive got over 100 mb of mpeg.As you say part of it may be corrupt.Im about ready to give up on it

    Ok, then load the AVI into Vdub, then Video > Scan video stream for errors.

    When its finished;
    Video > Direct stream copy
    Audio > Direct stream copy

    SAVE AVI

    Save as movie2.avi

    This should fix the bad frames, if you get a problem with Vdub, use "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" instead, it makes a log of bad frames at c:\badframes.log that can be used to remove the problem parts.

    Cancel the wizzard, Click "Load" and load a PAL/NTSC VCD template from the templates folder, Click START

    Another way of fixin this problem is when you have the wizzard, you could pretend to cut the movie.

    That is to click the "Source range" button, click "Move to end frame", then "Set end frame".

    TMPGEnc will now understand where to end encoding.

    Funny, I thougt it was my computer that caused this problem.
