  1. Hi there -

Trying to make a VCD with VCDEasy. Just got a brand new HP 200i DVD+RW. I downloaded the latest ASPI drivers and installed them on my XP machine.

When I run ASPICHK I get that two files were installed, two others are missing.

    Installed:
    ASPI32.sys 4.71.1
    WNASPI32.dll 4.71.1

    Uninstalled:
    WOWPOST.EXE
    WINASPI.dll

In the readme it says for XP machines that only those two will be installed.

But when I run VCDEasy it says NO to ASPI working properly.

Does anyone have any ideas - or at least suggest to me a better way to burn to a VCD. I don't want to use MyDVD to burn it because I HATE that program...thanks.

  2. I also have the new HP 200i and have not been able to make a VCD.
So watching this thread with selfish interest. All seems to go ok with the factory burn program wizard, then it says that the file as been modified or something and gives the option to continue. But after doing some kind of header (I’m really new to this so not sure of process) it will start to burn but kicks disk out with a numbered error. Ok I should have given better details and will when I retry tonight. My problem might be the CD’s media type, not sure, doing research now down that alley. The ones I have are cd-r cheapies
I can direct copy that file to cd and play on PC ms-media player fine. Any help on direction to go. How close am I?

  3. I too am using cheap CD-R, but that shouldn't make a difference - CDs work fine on my other computer.

I made another coaster last night - used MyDVD. Is it just me, or does that program just feel like it wasn't written well? You know, you can just tell by opening a program whether or not it's going to crash on you by how lame the interface feels.

Tried burning a VCD, it went all the way till the end, then crashed with some strange error. Sent it off to Microsoft (XP) and then I couldn't get the disc out of the DVD drive!!! So I went to My Computer and it said E:CD Drive!!! I restarted the computer, was able to pop the disc out and My Computer was back to labelling it E:CD/DVD+RW drive (or something like that)

I'm using brand new Dell 1.8Ghz Pent.4 and I actually started out with the Dell OEM DVD+RW until I found out it couldn't write DVD+R. But even with that drive MyDVD was crashing and doing really lame things.

    Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
