  1. Hey there. I was hoping someone had this similar problem and knew a fix before I return my burner.

I have a retail DVR-A04 and have problems with burned movies skipping and general picture distortion (usually at the end). I have tried ripping my own movies which dvd-decrypter and using existing movie img binaries.. both have problems with skipping and distortion. In addition, I have tried replacing the IDE cable, moving to secondary master/primary master, changing to PIO/Ultra ATA mode in the IDE bus, changing ASPI drivers, trying 4 different kinds of media (including TDK/Princo/Optodisc/Compusa), Burned with DiscJuggler and Primo, Played back on Sony DVD and XBOX DVD player (both skip at same place).

I would appreciate any help anyone has on the subject!

Return your drive. You have eliminated the programs, the media, hardware and anything else you can think of. I hope you can get it replaced, as I would hate to see you get the same drive back when the manufacturer say they cannot duplicate your malfunction.

  6. I have the same burner. Same problem when I burn a DVD-R. Will play alright on my Apex-703 but Skips etc after so long on my Pioneer 434.
DVD-RW plays okay on both DVD players. The pioneer will only play a DVD-R half way without problems.

  7. I think the problem is your DVD player and DVD-R Brand. I burnt a DVD and it woks fine one 1 player and have problem with another. Some DVD player is so picky on what media you use. Try to get the cheap APEX one, it should solve your problem.
