  1. I would like to find out what encoders other people use, and try and see which one is generally considered to give the best quality (regardless of time).

    Encoder's i've used:

    CCE 2.5/2.6 (great quality)
    LSX Mpeg 3.5 (pretty good)
    Xing (which i have always found to be very unreliable)
    TmpgEnc (the only encoder ive used which never seems to have a problem with compressed audio)
    Homestead (not great results)
    Panasonic 2.51 (good results)
    AVI2VCD (aborted before finished as it looked like it was going to take forever!)
    Videomin.. something or other (gave terrible results)

    Going to try today - BBAVI2Mpeg2

    ive used TMPGEnc and cce....i like em both.....TMPGEnc mostly though
