I'm capturing with VirtuaDub and the HuffyUV codec. I end up with a 10gb file. I then open that file in VDub, apply my filters and create another file about 5gb. If I open that file with Win Media Player, it looks beautiful and all is well. If I try moving the slider further into the video, I get an error "The file format is invalid". If I don't touch the slider, it plays through just fine. I then open the file in TMPGE and convert it to VCD, burn the MPEG1 file to CD with NERO, and try to play it in my home DVD player. I've got sound for about one minute, then it goes dead and about halfway through, the screen goes black (it gets to the end of the video, but keeps going).

I guess creating the second file with VDub is where my problems started. I would prefer to use TMGPE for the filtering/final conversion, but don't know how to set up the filters, such as the 'inverse telecine'. I know all the settings are different depending on how crappy my original video is, but I just want to know what each of the settings does. (or else someone to tell me what I'm doing wrong in VDub) I've tried at least six times now, checking boxes that say 'Synch audio to video' and it seems nothing works.

  2. This does'nt answer the problem your getting, but when you have applied your filters in vdub, why not frameserve it straight to tmpgenc rather than saving a second 5 gb file.

I tried it a while back and couldn't get it to work (I barely remember some error message about TMGPE not being able to open the file), so this way was easier. I'll try it again though--I suppose it would make more sense.

I've got it frame serving now, but one thing--I can't 'Inverse Telecine' while frame serving. That kind of defeats the whole purpose....
