I have a Blade 2 DivX movie that I can't get the audio to work on. The video works fine but when you initially load the movie it says Error Downloading Codec and the movie starts without the sound. Are there any audio codec packages i should download to try and get this to work? If so, where can i get them?

Dont use Media Player, and if you have to Make sure you have The Nimo Codec Pack.

Blade 2 uses ac3 448k files, just in case you dont know, thats the exact same sound as the DVD, 448 is better than most DVD's, so get Win DVD or get the Nimo Codec pack and enjoy cause if you have a 5.1 soundcard it sounds amazing, and even if you dont it still sounds crystal clear in stereo.

I tried playing it in my Win DVD but it still didnt work. Obviously i need this Nimo Codec Pack. I'll do a search for it. I'm actually going to make Blade 2 into a VCD and play it on my 55" TV. It's just better that way. Thanks for your help.

It has to be the multichannel version of Win DVD for it to be able to decode ac3 files, and i recommend XVCD VBR because its such a great picture that it needs the most you can fit on a disc, i watched it on here so i could experience the sound then on my widescreen tv so i could watch it properly.

just in case you havn't found it yet or anyone else needs it

Well, i downloaded the Nimo codec and it worked beautifully. I can now play the movie in Win DVD. But i'd rather not watch it on my computer so i tried converting it to VCD with TMPGEnc and it won't work. I usually rip the audio from a divx file with virtualdub but for some reason i couldn't with Blade 2. So how do i convert Blade 2 to VCD or even XVCD like Martyn says.

This is an easy way to do it and you should learn how to use each tool seperately but go here and download this

    http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd.htm

DVD2SVCD download it and follow the guide on this page, make sure you add tmpeg to it though as that is a seperate program from it.

Just go to misc tab and select avi instead of DVD and add the avi to the conversion tab, imimagining you know how to use the video encoding parts i think the guide explains some, go to the audio tab and change it to 224k Dual Channel, you could go lower but thats what i did and it sounds great on my standard Dolby ProLogic TV.

Just make sure your DVD player supports SVCD or change it to VCD.

Sorry i cant help more, im tired now and going to bed

Thanks, i appreciate all the help you've already given me. You're basically saying the Blade 2 i have is in digital audio format, right? Is there a way to keep the digital audio when i convert it to svcd? I have a digital receiver on my system, thats why i ask. My sony dvd player plays svcd too.

No you cant put it on a SVCD unfortunately, you need to convert it to a Dual Channel mp2 file which will only be plain Dolby Surround but that sounds great too sometimes, since you have a digital receiver i'd recommend 224k Dual Channel mp2 , to preserve as much data as possible, you could go higher but it might not work on your player and you would be sacrificing picture quality at that point.
