playing an svcd in os 9.2

ok, have a friend with os 9.2 and he cant play svcds. What software is available for this OS to play SVCDS, if any.

What is the software called? so i can look for myself. im guessing you have to pay for it judging by the fact that it was the apple store. How much roughly is it?

I wonder if, once you have the component installed, if you can transcode MPEG-2 to MPEG-2. If so, that would surely save a few hours on re-encodes.

I tested with a muxed SVCD MPG2 file and with an elementary m2v stream and in both cases it can't transcode back to MPG2 nor to MPG1. However it converts to MPG4 or to Quicktime. The audio is not exported.

Did you notice any difference in quality using the Quicktime 6 Pro export from MPEG-2 to Quicktime, versus using MM2C? Was it slower, faster or about the same?

You still need to export to quicktime first, add the audio and then export again to Toast VCD.
