Well I'm pretty familiar with VCD/SVCDs. I watch them all the time on my DVD player. I was trying to get one of my backups to play on my friends Samsung M101 but it wont play.
They manual says it plays VCDs/MPEG-1. What's the deal? Do they actually have to be in MPEG-1 format and not .dat format that you find on VCDs?

They may have to be VCD's NOT CDR VCD's
Sometimes a different brand of disk helps, but in any case start with a fully compliant VCD on a good quality disk

Taylor I have the same DVD player. I'm encountering the same problem, also. Take a look at the DVD player list and look at the reviews for this model. The posters there have suggestions for getting it to work. I have yet to try any of em. (certain brand cdrs, burning at 1x, etc)
