    I want to flash by DVD-ROM but it says I need to boot into real dos mode.

    A lot would depend on you brand and model of DVD Drive. You can start at this page for info: http://kickme.to/dvd105s . It's primarliy for Pioneer DVD-Roms but much useful info and links to software and firmware for other brands of drives. Scroll down to useful tools and you'll find a link to a DOS bootdisk for firmware upgrades.

    If I use RPC 1 firmware, won't that block me from playing RCE disks?
