  1. I have a .wav audio file that I'm trying to edit down to use for a VCD intro. But whenever I open the WAV file (and I know it's the complete file), I get a message saying that I'm missing a codec to play that WAV file. First of all, I didn't realize there were different codecs for WAV files. I tried playing the file in both WinAmp and Windows Media Player (newest version for each), and I still get the message about missing a codec. Is there a way for me to update my codecs for WAv files so I can at least listen to the WAV, and hopefully one day edit it?

  2. WAV has a few codecs but none are new ,I use Mediaplayer 6.4 and she plays all waves without hiccup. Do you have Nero? If so you can use the Nero Wave Editor to open it. Try any audio editor you have.Try everyplayer. If that still doesnt work, try to use an MP3 encoder and encode it at very high bitrate(320kbps) and then decode into wav again. You will lose a tiny amount of quality but it should work.

  3. I actually fixed my problem... you see, I couldn't convert the WAV because my computer couldn't read it. Turns out it was pure raw sound data, and my computer didn't know how to play that. So I downloaded a trial of Cool Audio Pro 2.0 and imported it into that... played like a charm. Plus I could use that software to edit the music to a millisecond, and save it as an MP3 file. Beautiful software, if anyone is interested in a truly awesome sound program.
