  1. Ok here we go. I recently ripped my first DVD and all went well. I burned the VOB files to a dvd+r and I am unable to get it to play in my DVD stand alone and my DVD rom. I have to go to file mode in power DVD to get the movie to play. This is the case on both the DVD+R and the HDD. The movie files were less than 4.7 GB but the entire DVD is > 4.7GB. I have been reading the how to section but I am a bit confused, reason being is that the VOB files are small enough to fit on A DVD+R why would they need to be recompressed. I am just looking to get the VOB file on my DVD+R to run in my rom in CD mode or standalone. I put them in a VIDEO_TS folder but I am just missing something, besides a brain what????????????

    Thanks

Can you play the ripped file from your hdd? if so then the problem is the media. Not all standalones can play 4.7gig disks some also have troubles playing dvd+r. I know about the 4.7gb disks because I did a Lord Of the Rings DVD as a pitch for a client the 4.7 worked on my standalone but failed to work in NZ needless to say the producers of LOTR were not impressed. I read somewhere that any players pre 2001 wont play 4.7.
    Definately Sucks!!!!

  3. I do not think its the media because if I do a full back up under smartripper with a smaller DVD it works fine in both DVD-ROM and Standalone its only when I rip the movie files that I have this problem. In the video_ts folder there are four .VOB's, one .idx, .lst, .ifo and one info.txt. Am I missing anything?
