  2. PhilipL,
Spec will mean something because a drive cannot get a "Easywrite" Logo unless it passes the compliance tests. If a drive does not have this then I would not buy it.

  4. Philipl,
I did not see anywhere in the article that these drives were Easywrite Logoed. In fact, I noticed that they flashed some of the drives up to the latest FW prior to starting the test. How could I have a Logo if I am not at the Logoed FW?

Basically, Mt Rainier would seem to have all the hall-marks of packet-writing software had before it, compatibility problems, no standard feature set, trouble working with defective media that Mt Rainier was promised to improve upon. Bascially the Mt Rainier or Easywrite logo is meaningless as it guarantees nothing about the drive and its compatibility with Mt Rainier. Just marketing?

For all Kenny Shin's positive publicity on Mt Rainier, the specification means nothing at this moment in time. Keep your money in your pocket or spend it on something else, as Mt Rainier delivers little of its promises. Nice one Philips!

    Philip,

You make me feel like being introduced as a DVD+RW Alliance representative here.

I guess you know what I think of your position on this matter as well.

Maybe Yamaha's CRW-F1 and other newer 24x MRW writers will have better support for Mt. Rainier while the older generations of MRW writers can have improved Mt. Rainier support with fixed firmware though obviously not all drive manufacturers will take the efforts for their already sold drives.
