  1. What's up guys and gals..? This is my first post.

    I'm trying to create a VCD. Lemme outline the process of how I rip my DVDs:
    • First I decrypt the VOBs using SmartRipper (v2.41).
    • Then I use DVD2AVI (v1.76) to create a WAV and the D2V file so TMPGEnc (v2.56) can encode it. In DVD2AVI I select Audio > 48 -> 44.1KHz > High. Then I save the project.
    • With TMPGEnc I select the D@2V as the video source, the WAV as the audio source, and then the VideoCD (NTSCFilm).mcf template.
    • Then I burn it with Nero.
    Everything goes fine until Nero analyzes the MPGs and I get THIS error. I suspect it has something to do with the audio because if I choose to go ahead and burn it as-is, the video is good, but the audio is nothing but hissing and pops. Once I select to re-encode, everything turns out fine. If re-encoding didn't take two hours, I'd be fine with doing it, but it does.

    So the question is, why must I re-encode? Am I missing something when I create the WAV or what?

    One more question.. Can someone point me to where I can read about getting the best quality possible in a VCD ripped from a DVD? I've gone through all the newbie stuff and I want something more.

    Thanks in advance, guys!

    Because the of the Frame rate! NTSCfilm is not standard for VCD! The Standard is 29.97fps not 23.97 which NTSCfilm is. Just uncheck the box that says "create standard compliant VCD" and it will burn. You will be making what is known as XVCD make sure your player will play them, most do.
