  2. That's just the way it is...it's nothing to do with the writer...only the player...

Most DVD players (around 90% or so) play DVD-R because it was the first standard...

but DVD-RW was changed many times, and even to this day, 60% of players will not play -RW discs...

Same way with my Panasonic A310 player, -R is fine, no go with -RW.

As for +R and +RW, these are NOT APPROVED FORMATS by the DVD consortium, and only developed for the computer markets...

but more and more players are starting to read the +R/RW formats but it's still VERY limited...

-R is the way to go for the best compatability.

from that dvd if u ripped it or u need software like dvdit or
something that creates menus,if u ripped a dvd w/vobs,ifo,bup files
you should add an AUDIO_TS folder alond w/the VIDEO_TS folder
should play in almost any player then.......especially a samsung...

  6. I have a Samsung too (maybe DV-711 or something like that). It plays DVD-R ok but doesnt' recognize DVD-RW.

One thing you can do is to burn to DVD-RW and play on your computer to check. Once everything is the way you want, burn to DVD-R to play on your standalone.

    Good luck

  7. It is not quite as easy as some people say to get a DVD-R to work on your standalone player. I wasted around 15 disks before I hit on the correct format for my Toshiba player. If you are worried about what you should put on a disk to make it work use the disk image function in IFOEdit to make sure it is complient. I use this and then burn using VOBInstant to get it working. Simply putting the correct folders and everything on a disk burnt with Nero did not work.

If you are worried if your machine is compatible look at the player reviews on this website, should tell you everything you need to know.

You most also be careful what disks you use. I can only get datasafe generation 3 disks to work on my Tosh!!

    Hope this helps.
