HI,
Is there any one out there from Scotland that could help a fellow Scot out?
I am trying to find a place around the Glasgow area where I could buy a "cheap" DVD player as a gift for my relatives, one that plays vcd's, and/or svcd's and most likely photo vcd's.
I am in Canada, and getting another relative in Scotland to do the actual purchase is not a problem.
The problem is that they really don't know what to look for in a DVD player, ie: what plays vcd's etc.... so if I could just tell them the make, model and where to buy it, things would go alot smoother, plus I would have an Idea of how much they cost.
TIA,
Slopoke......![]()

If all else fails try to find a place online that would ship there at resonable price. That way you can make sure you know what your getting.I would just say to tell your friend to ask the person in the store but at most any place that sells electronic or computer stuff they have a bunch of employes that have no idea what there doing.A bottom of the barrel dvd player most likly wont play vcd's if i were you i would get a sony or a panosonic check the dvd player compatability list on this site to find one.

that's exactly what I was looking for.
Not bad prices and right in downtown Glasgow, I can even order online...
Is SCART something I should pay attention to when buying?
I have no idea what that is.

If something hasn't got scart on it nowadays you don't usually buy it.
But that DVD player on there has got scart,it just comes without the scart lead.
NO Scart Cables Provided. Please see Richer Recommends for suggested cables.
These Products may not include full Accessories. However you may purchase any missing Accessories by calling 087001 10558. All clearance products come with a full years parts and labour guarantee.

Update,
OK, I had my relative go to Richersounds to buy the Cyberhome adL-528 (100 pounds), but they had none in stock so they said come back the next day.
Well on the next day they still didn't have one, but they offered him the Acoustic Solutions DVD551 (120pounds) for the same price as the 528.
He accepted the trade and has never looked back, it has more features and plays mp3s as well.
I have sent him a few disks and it is playing them all flawlessly.
Photo cds made with VCDeasy, Vcds, Xvcds, Svcds, and Cvds.
It even played a Cvd that was ripped from NTSC format and converted to PAL format where the audio was untouched, just converted to mp2 and remuxed with the PAL m2v.
All in all it has been a good experience with the store and the player, and my thanks go out to you wellmashed..... -
No problem.............
Thanks for the update..........
